ABOUT

It’s a Start!

Saturday 22 June 2019

The majority of images on this site were taken on the Isle of Man, of which I have been a resident for the past 20+ years.

I would describe myself as a spontaneous/opportunistic photographer and, as such, I rarely go out with the intention of taking a particular shot, let alone plan a shoot! Hence the eclectic mix of images.

I am of the opinion that a good image is best appreciated as a physical print – a throw back to doing film developing and printing in my teens? For this reason I do my own printing and mounting. Mounting methods vary from traditional bespoke framing to face mounting behind acrylic, laminated prints on aluminium di-bond panels and print shop A0 images on foam board for gallery display.

I have exhibited in a number of Isle of Man galleries and my mounted images – especially those of the TT – have found their way to various locations in the UK and USA.

This focus on the physical presentational aspect of photography has been to the detriment of my on-line presence and has led to many delays in creating this website until now (June 2019). The incentive to get my act together is the publishing of my some of my TT images in the weekly Amateur Photography magazine to be published late June 2019. Typically, I have only just got the site live the weekend before publication. As a result, I apologise for the current lack of image captions. And I will be adding extra images and galleries over the next few days.
